മുംബൈ∙ 40 വയസ്സുള്ള ചാർട്ടേഡ് അക്കൗണ്ടന്റ് സോലാപുരിൽ മരിച്ചത് ഗില്ലൻ ബാരി സിൻഡ്രോം (ജിബിഎസ്) ബാധിച്ചാണെന്ന് മഹാരാഷ്ട്ര ആരോഗ്യമന്ത്രി സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു. ക്ഷീണവും വയറിളക്കവുമായി ഇൗ മാസം ആദ്യം പുണെയിൽ ചികിത്സ തേടിയ യുവാവ് രോഗം മൂർച്ഛിച്ചതോടെ സ്വദേശമായ സോലാപുരിലേ‍ക്കു മടങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു. ചികിത്സ തുടരുന്നതിനിടെയാണ് മരിച്ചത്. 10 പേർക്കു കൂടി രോഗം സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചതോടെ പുണെയിൽ ജിബിഎസ് ബാധിതരുടെ എണ്ണം 111 ആയി. കേന്ദ്രസംഘവും സംസ്ഥാന ആരോഗ്യവകുപ്പിന്റെ ദ്രുതകർമസേനയും വ്യാപക പരിശോധന നടത്തുന്നുണ്ട്. 25,000ൽ അധികം വീടുകളിലെത്തി ആരോഗ്യപ്രവർത്തകർ വിവരങ്ങൾ ശേഖരിച്ചു. മലിന ജലത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ് രോഗമുണ്ടാകുന്നതെന്ന സംശയത്തെത്തുടർന്ന് കൂടുതൽ രോഗികളെ കണ്ടെത്തിയ മേഖലകളിലെ ശുദ്ധജല സാംപിളുകൾ പരിശോധനയ്ക്ക് അയച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
